About

What started out as a tiny club with a handful of members, the St. Johns County Conservatives have now grown to a crowd of standing room only events. The St. Johns County Conservatives began in September of 2021 with Michelle Milano as President, Joe Shedlawski as Vice President and  Eric Adler as the Sergeant at Arms.  We operate in a transparent system that benefits the constituents of St. Johns County and not the politicians of St. Johns County.  We welcome all constituents of the county including; Bakersville, Butler Beach, Crescent Beach, Elkton, Flagler Estates, Fruit Cove, Hastings, Julington Creek Plantation, Mill Creek, Nocatee, Palm Valley, Ponte Vedra Beach, Sawgrass, Spuds, St. Augustine Shores, St. Augustine South, St. Johns, Summer Haven, Switzerland, Vermont Heights, Vilano Beach, World Golf Village.

The election season of 2024 will be upon us in no time.  We have already heard from local conservatives who are hoping to get on the ballot for the position of commissioner in the next election.  We would like to give an open forum to any candidate who wishes to run in St. Johns County or offices that support St. Johns County. Additionally, we strive to push forward those candidates with conservative values by working on their campaigns.  We need to do all we can to keep out state and country free and prosperous.

My, how we have grown...

The Republican Party, often called the GOP (short for “Grand Old Party”) is one of two major political parties in the United States. Founded in 1854 as a coalition opposing the extension of slavery into Western territories, the Republican Party fought to protect the rights of African Americans after the Civil War. Today’s GOP is generally socially conservative, and favors smaller government, less regulation, lower taxes and less federal intervention in the economy. From History.com

"The most terrifying words in the English language are:   I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

~Ronald Reagan

Where do the parties stand on the issues facing America?

Republican

1.  Fiscal Responsibility:  Generally believe taxes should be kept low for individuals as well as corporations. This fosters more individual choice with ones assets and keeps American businesses in America. Believe responsible spending and balanced budgets

2.  Social Issues:  Generally have conservative beliefs regarding marriage and family. Strongly oppose abortion and strongly promote individual freedom.

3.  Labor & Wages:  Republicans generally tend to oppose increases to the minimum wage, believing the market should dictate the wage. A wage in Coweta, OK may not be adequate in NYC. Forcing a wage can put companies out of business.

4.  Health Care:  Republicans generally believe open markets are best to drive down costs and promote competition and thus better services.

5.  Social Programs:  Republicans generally believe any government social program should have limits and measures of effectiveness. They support private organizations who help those in need.

6.  Foreign Policy:  Republicans generally believe in a strong military as a deterrent to conflicts and a swift and equivalent response to any attacks on America.  They support countries with democracy's

7.  Energy & Environment:  Republicans generally believe in reducing fossil fuels but not at the expense of USA importing oil. Being an oil exporter while preparing for future alternative energy sources is best for national security.

8.  Education:  Republicans generally believe that a good education is the best avenue out of poverty.  They believe in school choice for all children regardless of their zip code. School choice will foster competition and result in better services for American children.

9.  Crime & Punishment:  Republicans are generally for Law & Order.  They support police officers and believe in the justice system where everyone is innocent until proven guilty.  They believe trials should be held in the courtroom and not in the media. They believe in equitable punishment for crimes regardless of race, religion, etc.

10.  Individual Liberty:  Republicans generally favor personal responsibility, in that individuals should be able to choose for themselves what they do and what they do not do if it doesn’t break existing laws.

Democrat

1. Fiscal Responsibility:  Generally believe the wealthy and corporations should pay a larger percentage of the taxes than lower and middle income individuals. They believe it's not fair for all to pay the same percentage.

2.   Social Issues:  Democrats tend to be more progressive in their views, favoring abortion and gay marriage, but are strongly for strict gun control laws that limit ownership.

3.  Labor & Wages:  The Democrats generally favor increasing the minimum wage so that Americans have more money with which to purchase goods. They believe in a "living wage" regardless of what the market dictates.

4.  Health Care:  In general believe the government is best suited to provide health care for all with regulation and oversight.

5.  Social Programs:  Democrats generally believe the government should run social programs and that more tax dollars should be funneled into these programs.

6.  Foreign Policy:  Democrats generally believe less military spending and limited strikes against attacks on Americans and allies.

7.  Energy & Environment:  Democrats generally oppose drilling for oil and other fossil fuels and believe in raising taxes to fund alternative energy sources.

8.  Education:  Democrats are strongly supported by the Teacher's Union who are strongly opposed to school choice. They are generally in favor of more tax dollars to improve schools and better education. They are in favor of the government providing "free" college education to some. They support Critical Race Theory.

9.  Crime & Punishment:  Democrats generally believe in lower sentences for non-violent crimes like drug selling. They also are less likely to hold criminals until trial and often do not require bail. They tend to be non-trusting of the police. They are against capital punishment in any form.

10.  Individual Liberty:  Democrats have generally tended toward favoring legislation that restricts some freedoms like guns. They have favored censoring some speech if they believe it is not true. They have favored restricting the right to assemble if they believe there is a threat to personal safety. They believe in mandates for masks and vaccines to keep the population safe.
